Southport Water Tours
Grab a beverage from The Mullet Bar and take a water tour on The Cape Fear River.

Listen to some live music and see one of Southport's beautiful sunsets. There is a $1 membership fee.

Beach Day
Head over to Oak Island or Caswell Beach and enjoy a day at the beach. It is paid parking on Oak Island but there are many more beach accesses available.

Maritime Museum
Did you know that the father of the bride is an artifact? He is in the museum! Discover Southport's history with the Cape Fear River.

Fort Fisher/NC Aquarium
Take a ferry ride (check the schedule and be prepared to arrive early) over to Fort Fisher, the grounds of an old fort during the Civil War. Then take a short drive to the NC Aquarium. Go to the aquarium's website and purchase tickets. Make sure you squirt the otters!

Play A Round of Golf
There are many courses to choose from in the area. Oak Island Golf Club is a great one to try. You might even see one of the local alligators.

Downtown Wilmington
Downtown Wilmington is about a 40 minute drive from Southport. It is quickly becoming a foodie hot spot with so many wonderful restaurants. It is also home to Riverwalk, a pretty stroll on the Cape Fear River with nearby shops, bars and eateries. Across the river from Riverwalk is The Battleship NC which is open for tours.

Explore Downtown Southport
Explore "America's Happiest Seaside Town". Downtown Southport has beautiful older homes and so many live oaks. Check out the waterfront and watch one of the many ships pass by. Stop in antique shops, Franklin Square Gallery, gift stores and local eateries.

Brunswick Town
Explore the ruins of a pre-revolutionary port settlement along the Cape Fear River. Brunswick Town was destroyed by the British and never built back. During the Civil War, Fort Anderson was built on the site. Check out their website for operating hours.

Ghost Walk Tour
Starting from The Whittler's Bench on Southport's waterfront, take a lantern led tour through the downtown hearing stories of some of our famous ghosts. It is family friendly and not really scary but it is about 60 minutes of walking and some surfaces can be uneven.

Take a day trip and explore the many things to do in Myrtle Beach, SC. It is a little over an hour drive from Southport. If you want to drive a little farther to Murrells Inlet, Brookgreen Gardens is a beautiful place to explore.
